The First Great Reformatting
Back in the second posting on this blog I talked about the two great reformattings we’ve seen in the Western world: from scroll to codex and from manuscript to print. Now (with thanks to Lars Aronsson on Web4Lib) we can actually see what the first one was like for those who lived through it.
(This is also my first embedded YouTube video. Will it re-open after someone watches it to the end once, or do I have to rewind it?)
