OK, we’ve had it here even longer than Edmonton Public Library, but as far as my Palm TX was concerned we might as well not have. Authentication depended on running an SSH session concurrently with whatever network application you were using, and the Palm OS can’t do that. The new UWS network, however, uses enterprise WPA, EAP-PEAP, and other fun acronyms I haven’t bothered to look up, and the upshot is that once you install an upgrade and a bunch of certificates, you can get in. So finally, I can read Bloglines over coffee in the CAB. Life just gets better and better.

BTW Palm charges $6 for the upgrade. After you take off the administrative overhead for collecting, can it really be worth it to piss off their customers so much with their nickel-and-diming?
